Our thoughts have the ultimate power to influence our actions and behaviour. This is because our thinking lays the foundation for everything our mind prompts us to do. It is part of human nature to cultivate thoughts based on experience in either positive or negative ways. There are many ways to master one's imagination, but the challenge lies in overcoming the distractions that get in the way.
Let's understand the human mind’s capabilities and discover how you can control your thoughts and mind.
1. Break down emotional barriers - Understand - Observe and Label your thoughts and emotions. 
Believe it or not, we all have emotional barriers that prevent our divergence into reality. When we face emotional obstacles, our feelings constantly make us think about what we shouldn't. It is because we have no control over our minds. When you lose your emotions, warn yourself and take a deep breath. Shift your focus towards your goals and try to reduce stress.
According to the Harvard Business Review, deep breathing exercises are beneficial for regaining control and maintaining concentration. So take a few deep breaths daily to break down your emotional barriers.
2. Identify negativity triggers
To control your thoughts and mind, you need to identify what triggers the negativity to gain control over yourself. It is true that sometimes it is difficult to control the ever-evolving negativity in your mind, but not if you have a purpose.
When you feel a whiff of negative thoughts, identify what caused it, it could be a person, a sight of something you hate, or even your feelings that make you feel despised and unworthy. Once you find the cause, it's easy to find a solution.
3. Find your inspiration
Your inspiration is already within you; all you need is to find it. The goal is to discover what directs your thoughts the way you want them to be.
For example, let's say you struggle with stress and anxiety. In that case, you need to find inspiration to divert your attention to something that prompts your inner self to change your life. Our mind is capable of achieving anything we hope for. So the whole point is to surround yourself with people and things that inspire you to control your thoughts and mind without triggering unwanted emotions.
4. Believe in your strengths and abilities
Gaining control over your thoughts and mind requires belief in your power and true ability to achieve anything you desire. Get into the habit of visualizing your goals to encourage yourself to adore your future self.
Believe in yourself with the firm belief that no matter what, you will never give in to your emotional barriers. Your mastery over your thoughts depends on how you deal with the triggers that create negativity. Therefore, never let your faith fade, and you will be the master of your thoughts and mind.
5. Thought-stopping and redirecting 
Recognize when you have a negative thought and stop it. Pay attention, and don’t give any more time to pursue the thought. You could purposefully think about something else to distract you from destroying it. Or you could redirect the thought into a more positive light.
